Iain McDonald
Business Development Director, SRL Traffic SystemsIain has worked in the ITS sector for around 30 years in all areas of the UK, Asia and South America. Predominantly working in the permanent and temporary traffic signals sector. He has also been involved in highways comms projects and ITS system solutions.
Iain is, in addition to his role as Business Development Director at SRL, a executive board member of the Association of Road Traffic Safety and Management (ARTSM) and has chaired three of their working groups.
Now working with the SRL technical team to develop and implement traffic control systems for temporary applications that will assist with the reduction of environmental impact and reduce manpower requirements on sites and increase safety by reducing staff exposure to live traffic conditions.

- At which point of a project do you consider the impact of congestion on road-users, including public transport and pedestrians?
- Steps we can take at design stage to reduce risk for highways workers, and road users.
- Sustainable solutions currently available that can keep traffic flowing, with particular focus in urban areas, and intermediary solutions to be considered when permanent systems are being replaced.
