This presentation will give an overview of the new CIHT project, supported by the new National Hub for Decarbonised, Adaptable, and Resilient Transport Infrastructures (DARe), on resilience and adaptation to extreme weather events of the UK road infrastructure, focusing particularly on:  

• the challenges posed by ageing structures and the increasing frequency and severity of extreme weather events. 
• good practice of design, implementation and construction processes that allow the road infrastructure to respond to emergencies, recover asset conditions and reduce future risks associated with extreme weather events.
• building a call for investing in maintaining, renewing and adapting our roads to extreme weather.

• As part of the Cold Comfort conference programme for 2024, we are introducing lightning presentations: fast-paced sessions comprising ten slides which progress automatically every 20 seconds for a total time of three minutes 20 seconds.
• These are presentations that would not necessarily warrant a full conference slot but are nevertheless relevant and of interest to the sector.
