Director General, Roads, Devolution and Motoring , Department for Transport

Emma is Director General for Roads and Local Transport at the Department for Transport which she joined as a DG in March 2020. Emma was the department’s SRO for domestic transport covid response. Emma has 20 years + experience of working in Government across a range of economic policy briefs.

She has extensive experience working with businesses, local leaders and stakeholders, as well as on place-based approaches to growth and devolution.

She was previously DG responsible for Domestic Planning and Implementation at the Department for Exiting the European Union and also led the creation of the first joint BEIS/DCLG/Cabinet Office Local Growth Directorate.
