Jenny Melbourne

Performance and Planning Manager

Transport for London

Jenny joined the Transport for London (TfL) Graduate scheme in 2005 as a trainee traffic control engineer working on such projects as the South Kensington pedestrianisation scheme and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In 2013 she became the Performance and Planning Manager for the South Area Team in Network Performance Delivery, part of the Network Management Directorate and has led the team over the last six years. Jenny’s team covers eight of the London boroughs and is responsible for the traffic light timings for 1500 sets of signals, reviewing the timings and managing works, events and schemes on the network. She has a keen interest in the mayoral Healthy Streets policies and has been integral to her department working closer with bus operations and to improve their performance on the London road network.

In addition to this Jenny initiated work in 2017 to lower wait times for pedestrians in London as mentioned in the London Walking Plan and found the working on the Putney case study for reducing emissions a fascinating and interesting piece of work.
