Team Leader for Sustainability & GIS Connected Places Catapult

Connected Places Catapult is the UK's innovation accelerator for cities, transport, and places. Marcel works in the Modelling & Appraisal Directorate as Team Leader for Sustainability & GIS and been with the Catapult for the last 3 ½ years.

He has been involved in the traffic and transportation industry for the past 22 years, with a range of experience in both private and public sectors. Prior to his current role, Marcel headed up the TfL Surface Transport Modelling and Visualisation team, supporting and analysing scheme developments for the likes of the Cycle Super Highway programme, Silvertown Tunnel and Elephant Castle Roundabout transformation project.  Through these roles he has gained a deep knowledge and understanding of operational traffic management, scheme design and complex network-wide planning.
Marcel finest achievement to date was his role in the planning of the signal strategies and associated traffic modelling used on the Olympic Road Network as part of the 2012 Games. Marcel commended by Sir Peter Hendy at the National Transport Awards in 2013 for his effort and contribution in delivering successful Games for London.
