As global leading professional for road safety Sarah advises and advocates for safe system methodologies in the transport planning sector. She provides expert opinion as technical advisor, peer reviewer, and expert witness to planning appeals and the courts, particularly with reference to major infrastructure, and structural changes within design and management organisations to embed the ‘shared responsibility’.

Notable projects within the past three years include authoring the Independent Review of All Lane Running Motorways, and Sarah co-authored Safe Roads for All, an expert report to UK Government calling for a Safe and Healthy Mobility Strategy and leads Proof of Concept projects implementing the Safe System in development planning.

In 2023, Sarah served on the Advisory Panel for research by UCL: Designing Streets for Neurodiversity and authored the highway safety section in IEMA’s new guidance for Environmental Assessment of Transport and Movement which requires an evidence-led, Safe System approach.
