Ian Wainwright
Director, Future City LogisticsHaving a degree in Town Planning, Ian worked for 18 years in the logistics industry on a range of third-party contracts and at Transport for London for 11 years, where he was responsible for the programme encouraging operators and businesses to revise delivery activity during the 2012 Games. As Head of the TfL freight team he then managed programmes to address truck safety, retiming and consolidating deliveries, and developing a more strategic approach to urban freight activity.
He is now a director at Future City Logistics, an independent consultancy that works to create safer, cleaner and more efficient freight and logistics, in partnership with cities, businesses, operators and academia. Ian is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Chair of CILT’s Freight and Logistics Policy Group and an advisor to the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight and Smart Freight Centre.
