MEON LTD | PROJECT HIGHWAYS ZERO

Stand K081
DELIVERING ENVIRONMENTALLY GREAT SURFACES Project Highways Zero started in 2020 to highlight how carbon savings can be made across our highway and transportation infrastructure with respect to line marking and surface repairs. The campaign is backed by industry experts Meon Ltd, who are passionate on delivering environmentally great surfaces. We will be running a series of short online presentations, discussion forums and events to highlight how carbon savings can be made with line marking and surface repairs. Ensuring safety, durability and sustainability factors influence the choice of line marking material and application methods. Our Purpose... PMMA Poly Methyl methacrylate technology was originally developed by Germans early 1900’s. During the 1950’s it became a ‘go-to’ substrate for making acryclics etc due to high stress properties. Exceptional adhesive properties offered opportunities to be utilised within the automotive industry. The ability to adjust the rigid properties of the formulation enabled the technology to be used in manufacturing of robust education equipment. Medical industry identified the potential to utilise the technology for dental fillings and bone repairs. The low water absorption properties meant the technology could be used in cosmetic applications. All these properties can be adjusted and the combination developed to formulate high durability line marking systems. First used in the UK in early 2000 The Fundamentals... Project Highways Zero’s purpose is to highlight how carbon savings can be made with line marking and surface repairs across our highways infrastructure. This is underpinned by the fundamental elements that all line marking and surface repair systems used on the UK should have a focus around: SAFETY | DURABILITY | ENVIRONMENTAL Find out more... www.netzerocarbonhighways.com

Active Travel | Cycle Lane Coating Systems
We are being increasingly encouraged to cycle to and from work and limit the usage of cars in city centres and other built up locations. Cycle routes are growing in popularity as the number of cyclists increases daily. Meon’s specialist cycleway system is the ideal solution, which includes the UltraGrip L244 MMA cycleway coating.

Virtual Expo 5.0 | ES RoadLiner | Why it delivers sustainable highway grade markings for the future
Focusing on the outstanding performance, safety elements, and sustainability benefits for our new-to-market and first of its kind... the LineLazer ECO ES RoadLiner. In the third and final part in this mini-series, we are going to discuss the sustainability element of the ES Roadliner and why is delivers more sustainable highway grade markings for the future. With the release of the LineLazer ECO ES RoadLiner back in October 2021, the introduction of this innovation into the line marking industry was the first of its kind in the UK. Bringing an all-electric line marking machine that delivers sustainable highway performance lines. There is a growing demand for carbon reduction, from central government contracts, through to regional construction companies and local distribution providers. Indeed, electric-powered plants and machinery are becoming a common sight. The only option was a fully electric unit, reducing both carbon output considerably and minimising noise at only 82 dcBs.With the use of the ES RoadLiner operators can produce up to 90% less carbon output, which means its sustainability supports the central government's goal of Net Zero. A recent white paper case study ‘Under Lining Emissions’ was carried out independently for Meon by the University of Alberta, Canada, drawing on industry insight, scientific research and product specification. From this this white paper it was highlighted that emissions from cold applied systems have a much lower carbon impact of if used in conjunction with an electric lining machine, and electric van, at a rate of only 181kgCO2e / KM.By using a cold applied line marking system, using battery powered equipment and a hybrid LCV, a further 32% reduction in emissions can be achieved by switching to a fully electric set up, which creates a more sustainable set up for line marking of the future. By making the change to using the industry's first all-electric line marking machine, you would be capable of applying highway specification line markings, which is a 300% increase in durability when using a MMA product. In additional to a 60% increased retro-reflectivity compared to traditional methods and the ability to cut carbon output by up to 90%. By reducing the carbon emissions from line marking activities shows a significant potential to achieve carbon reduction goals in the highways industry. If all UK A roads were line marked again using cold applied systems instead of thermoplastic systems up to 70,00 metric tonnes of carbon emissions would be avoided. If you want to learn more about our ES RoadLiner, arrange a demonstration, or are looking to scale up your line marketing fleet with the world's first all-electric highway grade line marking machine, then get in touch today on 02392 200 606 or emailing mail@meonuk.com.

Improved Safety for Cyclists | Cycleway Delineation | Virtual EXPO 3.0 | Presented by MEON
Whilst the road network can be used for multiple vehicles such as cars, buses and bicycles, there is an increased safety risk and increasing numbers of cyclists would only increase bicycle/vehicle related accidents. Cycleways are the answer to reducing this risk and also help to maintain the flow of both road traffic and the cyclists. When these cycleways are situated directly adjacent to the road the risk of vehicle/cyclist related accidents is still high where there are no physical delineation measures in place. Introducing the cycleway delineation products which provide safety for cyclists, forming a physical barrier between the cycleway and road. Meon’s delineation products are manufactured out of rubber are bolted into the surface which is a very simple and quick installation and also can easily be removed if required. The dividing island is a kerb height unit which provides a continuous barrier between the road and cycleway and is fully customisable in length or shape to suit any project requirements, available in black, grey or red with a reflective white edging. We also offer posts in three different styles, with reflective tape and these posts can be installed either by concreting them in the ground or bolting them directly onto the surface or on top of the dividing island which provides a very quick and simple installation. These posts are manufactured from Vulcanised Rubber and are flexible if impacted which is a safer solution than rigid posts. If you are undertaking a project involving cycleways we can assist with the full package of cycleway markings, surface coatings and delineation units to create safe transport routes for cyclists.
