Tom Burman

Network Manager

TfL

Tom joined TfL in 2015 on a two-year graduate scheme programme in the Network Management team, which involved training in traffic signals and modelling, including how to use the UTC and SCOOT systems. Upon completion of the scheme, Tom became a Network Manager and is now responsible for managing the road network in Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, delivering the Mayor’s Transport Strategy through improving the experience of bus passengers, pedestrians and cyclists on the road network. This includes implementing innovative technologies at traffic signals, such as Differential Bus Priority. This technology gives additional priority to late running buses at junctions. Tom is also responsible for modelling various proposed schemes on the network, including Cycle Superhighway 9, influencing designs to achieve maximum efficiency for all road users.
