Lee Rowbotham joined the independent transport user watchdog Transport Focus in 2015. Managing a number of work streams relating to the representation of road users, he currently leads on research looking at incidents and roadworks on the strategic road network (SRN), smart motorways, road surface quality and tunnels.
Previously, Lee spent ten years working for Highways England and its predecessor organisation, the Highways Agency. For a time he was seconded to the transport coordination centre for the London 2012 Olympic Games. During 2008-2012, he was appointed as an independent member of the Greater Manchester Police Authority as lead member for professional standards. He has also been involved in the driver training industry as an approved driving instructor and qualified instructor trainer.
