Gavin Neate

In 1996 Gavin began an 18-year career with Guide Dogs for the Blind. His experience of poorly installed pedestrian crossings led him to design a system with which any person living with reduced mobility, could operate the crossing using a smartphone. This system has been winning innovation national awards and is now installed in various sites across the UK.

This success led to other solutions based on the challenges disabled people face with the groundbreaking “Welcome”, a platform connecting disabled shoppers to customer services teams and providing them with training and awareness immediately prior to the customer's arrival. ‘Welcome’ was one of three finalists in last years Disability-Smart Awards for Technology Initiative of the year alongside Facebook and Microsoft.
