TSS - Transport Simulation Systems develops and markets Aimsun, the leading transport modelling software environment. Aimsun is the product of 22 years of research, some 100 academic publications, and hundreds of traffic engineering studies to-date. It has a strong scientific and commercial heritage and a fiercely loyal user community. At Traffex 2009, TSS will be launching the latest version of its software Aimsun 6.1. The highlight of this release is a model of pedestrian movement by Legion. The pedestrian simulation model is completely integrated inside Aimsun as a plug-in and comes in three different editions. In its standard form, included with all Aimsun editions, it enables traffic engineers to model any kind of pedestrian crossing - be that signalised or not. Pedestrian-actuated and fixed cycle signals can be modelled, with vehicles and pedestrians interacting with each other with a high degree of realism. The more powerful editions of "Legion for Aimsun" cater for larger numbers of people and a wealth of pedestrian activities in urban areas. Legion for Aimsun represents a best of both worlds for Aimsun users: the high quality of Legion's patented movement algorithms has been married with a characteristically efficient "Aimsun way" of defining pedestrian objects. The process of building the model is the easiest possible and the unmistakeable quality of Legion immediately shows in the outputs.

TSS will also be showcasing Aimsun Online, the world's only microsimulation-based real-time decision support solution for traffic management in large urban areas and regional networks. Aimsun Online integrates tightly into existing infrastructure and uses live traffic data feeds and very fast mesoscopic and microscopic simulations to forecast future traffic conditions, analyse alternative response strategies and propose an optimal course of action. The company has live installations of Aimsun Online used for emergency vehicle routing and incident management.
