Traffic engineering and control (tec) and Surveyor are the official magazines of Traffex.
In fact it was tec that actually launched the first Traffex show in 1982. Since then, both the show and the magazine have gone from strength-to-strength with tec continuing to provide unrivalled technical and commercial expertise to the international transport planning and traffic engineering industry.
tec is celebrating its 50th birthday in January 2009 and in that time the magazine has reported on numerous firsts including:
o The first motorway (1958)
o The introduction of the 70mph speed limit (1965)
o The first breathalyser test (1967)
o The first bus lane in the UK (1968)
o The first commercial SCOOT system (1983)
o The first speed camera (1993)
o The introduction of MIDAS (1997)
o The first hard shoulder running pilots on the M42 (2006)
The future for traffic engineering is just as bright and exciting, with issues such as Intelligent Transport Systems, Passive Safety and UTMC dominating the current agenda. If you need to keep up with all the developments in the industry, make sure that you subscribe to the magazine setting the agenda - tec.
